Its self-resonant design follows the coil’s resonant frequency automatically. Use it for simple standalone heating, or choose PRO to develop, test and integrate your heating process.

Description
Induction heating that fits your project
The CRO-SM3 combines a self-resonant power stage and digital control in a 50 × 50 mm module. Use it to build a compact standalone heater, experiment with different coils and workpieces, or add controlled heating to your own equipment.
The circuit automatically follows the resonant frequency of your coil and capacitor as the load changes. You choose the coil to suit the job; the controller handles the resonant drive. Its small size and modular connections give you flexibility to arrange the electronics around your application.
Simple operation, with more control when you need it
ST provides standalone on/off operation and four preset power levels. It is the straightforward choice when you already know the heating process you want.
PRO adds configurable settings and serial communication for development, testing and automation. Monitor current and resonant frequency as you compare coils and workpieces, adjust the operating settings, and integrate timed heating or automatic workpiece detection into your equipment.
Both versions work without a computer. PRO retains its configured settings for standalone use.
See how your system performs
The PRO web app brings together live measurements, graphs and configuration tools. Use it to understand your heating process and refine a setup before integrating it into your equipment. A compatible serial connection is required.

Starting from scratch? The CRO-SM3-PRO developer kit combines the controller with tank capacitors, litz wire for winding a coil, chokes and connection accessories. Assembly is required; the power supply is separate. The datasheet covers component selection and setup.
