The ION USB record deck allows you to turn your old dusty collection
of vinyl into the very latest MP3 files, or transfer them on to CD. Many
of you have large collections of Vinyl collecting dust because those big
plastic disks will not, no matter how hard you push them fit into your
CD player. This fantastic bit of kit allows you to take those old records,
whether they are 45s, 33s or even 78s and convert them via your PC to
MP3, WAV or WMA digital files, or simply copy them to a CD using the supplied
software package.
The deck simply plugs into the USB port on you PC. You can then either
use the software to convert your music, or simply listen to it through
your PC. Plus the deck has a tape input connector that allows you to plug
your tape player in as well, allowing old tape collections to be converted
as well.
Don't want to use a PC, fine, the deck also has audio outputs to allow
the deck to be used just like a normal one. The software bundle consists
of a trail version of Bias Soundsoap 2, which allows you to clean up your
sound as well by removing hiss and pops common to record playback; also
Audacity for Mac/PC for the actual transferring process.
One other fantastic additional feature of this software is that it allows
you to play the records at double speed to speed up the transfer process,
the clever software then slows it back down again before converting them
to CD or MP3s. Compatible with any software that supports USB audio input
sound cards. All you need to do is simply plug it into a spare USB port,
no special drivers are required for Windows 98/2000/XP or Mac OS9 and
above.
